Diet Recipe For Corn Bhel

This healthy dish can be used as snack or as a topping. Check out the ingredients and making of this dish.

Preparation time: 15 minutes

Cooking time: 5 minutes


For baking:

Gram flour- 1 cup
Turmeric powder-1/4th tsp
Chilli powder-1/2 tsp
Lemon juice-2 tsp
Asafoetida-a pinch
Salt-to taste
Oil-for greasing

Other ingredients:

Onion-1/2 cup (chopped)
Capsicum-1/2 cup (chopped)
Corn kernels-1 cup (boiled)
Tomatoes-1/2 cup (chopped)
Apples-1/4th cup (chopped)
Coriander leaves-1/4th cup (finely chopped)
Sugar- a pinch
Lemon juice-1 tbsp
Salt-to taste
Baked sev-1/2 cup Lemon wedges- 2 no


Method: For the Baking:

  • Take a bowl and combine all the ingredients, add plenty of water, mix well and then knead into a semi-stiff dough.
  • Shape the dough into a roll with your hands by lightly greasing your hands with oil.
  • On to a greased baking tray press out the thin strands after fill the dough into the sev press.
  • Bake for 8-10 minutes or till it looks crispy in a pre-heated oven at 200”C (400”F) and keep in mind that it should be light brown in color.
  • Completely cool it and crush it.
  • Keep aside.


How to proceed:

  • On a medium flame saute the, keep a broad non stick pan, add onions and saute till they turn translucent. To avoid onion from burning, sprinkle little water.
  • On a medium flame, prepare another mixture by adding corn and capsicum.
  • Remove it from the flame and add all the rest of the ingredients and mix well.
  • Immediately serve it topped with sev and lemon wedges.
